Products not worth the hype!

Hey dolls, I recently posted a video all about some products which I didnt think were worth the hype! They didn't work for me but they may well work for you! Here are my views on them...

Loreal Resurfacing primer - I found this primer to be heavy on my skin and it didn't help my combo/oily skin atall, I didn't notice that it made my makeup last for longer and I think its very expensive for what you get and for it not to work!

O.P.I You dont know Jaques - This nail varnish is extremely popular, I saw it everywhere and so was intrigued! However when I tried it on myself it just didnt look nice atall! I am so gutted because its so expensive and I felt it had been hyped up SO much, it might just be my skin tone!

CHANEL Vitalumiere aqua - This foundation is many peoples' holy-grail item and so I thought I would try it out thinking it would be a great summer foundation as it is water-based and lightweight. I was disappointed, It dosent last more than a few hours on me without fading away and/or going patchy on my skin, i've used other water-based foundations before which worked ok but this was just terrible on my skin, not worth the expensive price tag in my opinion!

Revlon Lip butters - I do like how these feel on the lips and they are very soft and creamy but its the colour selection that dosent do it for me, I dont mind them being sheer (as its in the name) but Many of the colours don't work well on my skin tone and I find many have a frost finish that highlights all the imperfections on my lips which isnt great. I do like 'Creme Brule' but I struggle to find others I get on with. (I also think they are overpriced!)

Benefit Sugarbomb - I was very excited for this product when it came out, there is always a buzz around Benefit box blushes as they usually are good products, but this one just dosent show up on me, I feel like there isnt much pigment atall and it just dosent do anything for my cheeks, it dosent give a glow, it dosent give colour, I find it very chalky. Such a shame as I love many Benefit products, especially the blushes.

YSL Rouge volupte lipstick (shade 2) - The packaging of the YSL lipstick is phenomenal, the product on the other hand...not so good. The lipstick wont last for much longer than 10/15 minutes on the lips and it just feels cheap (weirdly enough) and 'wishy washy' as I tried to explain in my video haha. Not worth the designer price tag!

EOS Lip balm - Again, I love the packaging of these lip balms and was excited to have one as they are not easy to get hold of in the UK, After using them for a while I realised the product just sits on top of the lips but dosent condition the lips or do anything good for them, it just feels waxy and is highly scented.

MAC MSF Natural - I personally think this is a very over-hyped product for not much reason! I used to use this for a long time as I had heard alot about it and I didnt try anything else, but once I did, I didnt want to go back to it. I find this product very chalky/powdery and I feel it can easily give a cake-face look to the skin. It is supposed to be quite lightweight but I believe there are better powders out there with a lightweight look, I'll never re-purchase this one again.

Bourjois 1 second nail varnish remover - I wasnt wowed by this product, I feel alone on this but I thought i would share haha! Its nice...but I dont mind using my usual method to remove my nail varnish and I feel like im only using this at the moment because on the hype and not because I love it! It dosent work in 1 second as you do have to scrape your finger around in there for a while, I just find it a bit of a faff! The plus side is that its not too harmful for your nails which is good but overall I wont be repurchasing.

Im sorry this was quite a negative post! I do talk alot about products I like but not so much about what I would say to save a few pennies on so I hope perhaps this was helpful!

Have you had any similar thoughts or do you disagree? Let me know!

Sammi x

Great post/video! I agree with the EOS Lipbalms and the Lip butters. They were definitely overhyped. x

i really didnt like the Revlon lipbutters, i thought they felt horrible on the lips!!

Too bad the Revlon lip butters don't work well on your skin tone! I personally really love them. However i have to agree with you, they're a bit overpriced. It's so typical that some people are completely in love with the Chanel vitalumiere aqua foundation and some people find it just horrible, i still have to try it.. Thanks for sharing these products.

Loved the video. It's a shame you didn't like the benefit sugarbomb blush, I've been loving it all summer, everyone hates and loves different products I guess :)

I totally agree with MAC MSF! I literally thought I was the only person who thought it was way overhyped. It doesn't make any difference to my skin whatsoever, total waste of twenty quid! x

I basically agree on the Revlon lip butters. It's like, they're nice enough, but they don't give you a lot of product and they last about half as long on the lips as any of the MAC lipsticks, so you might as well save up and buy yourself one of those instead.

And yes, MAC msf was not great. Like you said, it can look cakey, and I hate having to shell out for a product that's just ok.

I'm glad I didn't go out and splurge on the Mac MSF Natural. I'm happy with my Maybelliene dream matte!

I completely agree with you as far as the YSL lipstick and the EOS balm! Everyone is so excited by them, and I just can't get past how truly mediocre/bad they are!

Thanks for this video! I thought I´m the only one who is disappointed of the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. It doesn´t work for me either. So I always mix it with my fave drugstore foundation.
The YSL rouge volupte is also not worth the price because it really doesn´t last long. BUT I have to say that I found my perfekt lipstick colour with the number 1 "nude beige". This is the shade I was always searching for ;)

THIS is the reason I follow beauty-bloggers like you. You are honest and when you say you don't like a product, you give a reason! Awesome! And no this isn't a negative post at all, it's your opinion and I love you for it! Thanks Sammie!xx

Omg, i couldnt agree more with you on the Chanel Aqua, MAC msf natural and Revlons lip buters. For some reason, mtheyre overhyped on you tube and every girl thinks she should do herself a favor and get them. I am, however, trying to use them up, as i dont like leaving expensive cosmetics lying around.but that pretty much makes me frustrated even more, as not only i dont like the product, but i also feel obliged to use it.pffff

I love the Vitalumiere Aqua :) It does fade on and around my nose after several hours, but then again, so does all my other foundations.. Try Shiseido Sun Protection foundation, that is really long wearing, and waterproof :D

i have to agree with you on the revlon lip butters, i got my one (sugar frosting)befor they hit the UK and i was so let down, i found if your lips were not fully hydrated the colour would bundle up over the dry patch on your lips, my lips were not left hydrated at all and for me it was just a small amount of product for 8 pounds =/

I've been keen to try the Revlon Lip Butters but I agree that they are over priced and that is what has most put me off.
I agree with you on the Bourjois!
I loved it at first but I did exactly the same as you and poured half of it over myself! Also I don't like the residue left on my fingers, especially as now that I have used it quite a bit, it leaves previously removed nail polish juice on my fingers too. gros.

Your hair and makeup are gorgeous! First time I've had a chance to watch one of your videos (I usually just read away) and it was fab :)

But the bourgois nail varnish pot is amazing! even if it cant do your toes, its really nourishing and leaves a nice smell unlike normal nail varnish removers
Like that your being honest though sammi, I always look forward to your vids :) X

Totally agree about the Vitalumiere Aqua, I thought it would be perfect for me, but just left me feeling a bit meh! I didn't like the Revlon Lip Butters either but love the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks, which are a similar concept. X

I've never tried EOS lipbalm but I've heard from couple of people that it is not as good as everyone thinks!

I love it when you do posts like these 'cause from what I see we have similar taste, so I know I probably won't like the same things! xx

i freaking agree! eos, that benefit blush, and the revlon, also the loreal =_=

I have to agree on the o.p.i nail lacquer front.

i have tried multiple of these but find that they are often hard to apply to get a decant colour in comparison to others such as models own.

I bought the o.p.i in 'so many clowns...so little time' and have to say it is possible the worst polish i own :(

I do like the MSF but i feel it is too heavy and makes my face look Cakey, what other powders would you reccomend? I also agree with the nail polish remover! Absolute waste I think, why fafff on and twist it round etc when a pad and normal remover works just as good? Madness! Xxxx

I know exactly what you mean about the YSL lipstick! I've wanted one for ages, as they seem to be really creamy and give you 'voluptuous lips' in my opinion lol, but i swatched loads yesterday and I so get what you mean about wishy washy! I used a tissue to get them off and they wiped off stain free and the rimmel, barry m swatches etc stayed put. I was so dissapointed as I tried a few from the different YSL formulas and they're the same pretty much! Thanks for the video, You've saved me some moolah! Rachel xxx
